It’s this time of year when your energy starts to decline, the stress levels seem to rise and the nights get colder and darker. Sometimes you just need to slow down and take care of yourself, by not always being on the go. Missing that night out and staying in on these wintry nights isn’t the end of the world, despite the FOMO you may get (trust me it’ll pass). I can’t think of anything I’d rather do than curl up in my warmest PJ’s and cosy into my favourite, most comfiest chair after a day out in the cold.
READ THAT BOOK
I have about 70,000 books (ok, that’s an exaggeration) on my bookshelf, that I am dying to read. This month I have put down my phone, switched off social media and dedicated entire evenings next to the fire to just read. It’s the best feeling just having some me time and there is no need to feel guilt.
HAVE A CHEEKY GLASS
Don’t fancy that night out in the cold or the rain or even snow? Then have a night in. Get the girls round, crack open a heavenly bottle (or two) of red, spread out the nibbles, take a seat and relax for the evening. Low cost and so much more fun, not to mention you can actually have a chat!
TAKE A BATH
You work hard, I get it. But all that time sat stationary at a computer or that HIIT class you took the other night can really take it’s toll. Treat yourself to some delicious and soothing bath salts and oils, dig out the candles and enjoy the peace. Finish with a scrumptious moisturiser and float to bed in the cosiest of PJ’s.
STRETCH AND MEDITATE
I’ll be honest I was a bit apprehensive about the meditation train everyone seemed to be hopping on, but now I can’t sing it’s praises enough. Having always loved yoga and enjoyed the benefits it has given my body, I never really gave a second thought to my mind, silly as yoga and meditation go hand in hand. However, downloading an app like Headspace and finding a quiet corner of the house is one of life’s little luxuries where you can truly chill out and think of, well, nothing!
BOOK THAT HOLIDAY
We all need something to look forward to and I work to travel. So whilst you’re enjoying that glass of wine on the sofa, book that European city break, or flights to a far-flung destination. She says as writing this with a bottle of red and Expedia open in the second tab…
