6 Foundations Celebrities Actually Use

Finding the perfect foundation is no simple task, especially when we don’t all have a glam squad on speed dial (à la the Kardashians) to paint our faces 24/7. So how do celebrities always look so flawless and polished? A good base is key for any occasion, so we’ve rounded up the 6 best foundations celebrities use, as recommended by their makeup artists.

Nars Sheer Glow Foundation

A favourite amongst the hollywood elite and top models, Nars Sheer Glow foundation is a winner when it comes to perfect coverage, with a satin finish for all skin tones and types. Makeup artist to the stars Vincent Oquendo says, “I actually love to apply it with a fluffy blush brush because it gives the skin a beautiful airbrushed look without looking heavy or caked on.” I’ve used this foundation for four years and love it so much I dedicated a whole post to it, check it out here.

Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation

Used by: Kim Kardashian West, Rihanna and Little Mix

Celebrity makeup artist Quinn Murphy says, “I have not found a prettier, smoother, and more realistic foundation than this. The foundation is sheer and dries down to a glowing, slightly matte skin-like texture. It is easily blendable on the skin.” Kim K layers her Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation over the Giorgio Armani Fluid Sheer as it adds extra shimmer and she “always warms it on her hand first”, as she explained during a recent home makeup tutorial video.

Chanel Vitalumière Aqua Ultra-Light Skin Perfecting Sunscreen Makeup

A bit of a mouthful but this Chanel foundation is loved by celebrity makeup artist Kate Lee, she says it, “is my cannot-live-without product for life. The formulation is so light and luminous, and it’s easy to use. This foundation just looks like a more perfect version of your own skin.” She recommends dabbing it on your face using your fingers and then blending with your favourite beauty blender for an even flawless finish.

YSL Le Teint Touche Éclat Illuminating Foundation

Used by: Adele, Uma Thurman, Charlize Theron

Troy Surratt, make up artist to Adele, says this YSL classic, “gives a glowing, skin-perfecting effect that looks incredibly realistic. It’s great for perfecting skin’s texture and evening out the complexion, lending clarity to discolouration. The formula is also pigmented enough to effectively hide/conceal breakouts.”

Diorskin Nude Foundation

Used by: Hailey Baldwin, Ashley Olsen and Jessica Simpson

Makeup artist Benjamin Puckey can’t get enough of this foundation, “I’m obsessed with the Diorskin Nude Skin-Glowing Makeup. It feels very lightweight and covers invisibly, leaving your skin looking naturally flawless. I’ve found that it works on all skin types, but on oily skin I’ll use a primer as a base and on dry skin I’ll use a facial oil as a base. I love applying it with my beauty blender sponge for a seamless finish.”

Make Up For Ever HD Invisible Cover Foundation

If this foundation is good enough for a first lady, it’s good enough for us and makeup artist to the stars Carl Ray agrees. He says, “It’s oil-free and has a medium to full coverage. The formula covers all your skins imperfections, while remaining invisible on screen and in real life. It comes in 26 shades that are easy to mix and match to make the perfect shade for any skin type. I use a beauty blender sponge for a flawless finish, and always use a moisturiser and a face primer before applying foundation.”
